Privacy Policy

Matra Studio (“Matra”, “we”) turns music recordings into chord charts, notation and sargam. This policy explains what we collect and why. The short version: your audio is used only to make your chart, then deleted, and we never train on it.

What we collect

• Account data. If you create an account, your email address and a password (stored hashed by our auth provider). Anonymous use requires no account and collects no email.
• Profile data you provide. Optional display name, username, instrument, interests and avatar image.
• Recordings you import or record. Whether you upload a file or record straight from your browser microphone, the audio is used only to produce your chart, and the original is deleted from our servers right after processing. We do not keep your master recording, and we never use your audio to train the engine. We derive a non-reversible acoustic fingerprint that lets us recognise the same recording without storing the audio. In its place we keep a private playback copy — used only to play your chart back to you in the studio — in storage only you can read, and it is deleted when you delete your account.
• Charts and edits. The generated chords, key, tempo, melody, your corrections, and song metadata you enter.
• Usage and diagnostics. Basic technical logs (timestamps, error traces, cost accounting) needed to run and debug the service.

How we use it

• To transcribe your recordings and store your charts in your library.
• To improve accuracy from corrections you choose to save — we learn from musical facts (key, chord symbols), never your audio and never your personal data.
• To operate, secure and bill the service.

Third parties

• Supabase — database, authentication and file storage.
• Modal — serverless compute that runs the transcription.
• Stripe — payments on the web (Stripe is the payment processor).
• Apple — payments and subscriptions in the iOS app (Apple is the merchant of record there).
• Apple iTunes Search API — public album-art and artist metadata lookup by title.

We do not sell your personal data.

Your choices

• Delete everything. Settings → Delete account permanently erases your account, charts, edits and any stored data, including for anonymous users. Immediate and irreversible.
• Export. Email support@matra.studio to request a copy of your data.
• Access / correction. Email support@matra.studio.

Retention

Charts and profile data are kept until you delete them. Whether uploaded or recorded in-browser, your original audio is deleted right after processing — only the private playback derivative and the chart data (chords, key, tempo, melody) remain, and only you can access them. Deleting your account deletes that playback copy too. Anonymous charts and their audio are purged after 48 hours. Diagnostic logs are retained for a limited operational window.

Children

Matra is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region).
